Singing Crabs & Skip Counting Trains

We're starting off the year with multiplication. My kiddos had a bad case of cabin fever so I decided we should do some activities that got us up and moving.

We haven't seen each other for 25 DAYS!!! due to winter break followed by an ice storm!!! Needless to say, I was beyond thrilled to see their little faces again on Thursday!

First we built skip counting trains. I assigned them a number of cubes to construct each section of the train with.

Then I had them skip count to find how many cubes they had in their trains in all . . . I saw some great strategies in action!

We also played Roll & Color: Multiply by 3 (FREEBIE!) and Roll & Color: Multiply by 6. (No kid photos, I was too busy playing!)

We rounded out each day with a skip counting video.
We've watched (and memorized) almost ALL of the skip counting videos on YouTube from Have Fun Teaching

Our favorite is the 9's!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is a random bird and a singing crab - what more could you ask for? These are SO catchy!

Happy Saturday everyone! I'm going to round out my week by playing a few rounds of Candy Crush, followed by a shopping spree at Target. (I'm buying a new broom, woo-hoo!)
